Today's Outline:

- Using brush attributes (opacity, hardness, size etc)
- Jumping straight in: Project one - The Harbor
- open harbor.jpg and coutryside.jpg
- use the move tool and drag countryside.jpg into harbor.jpg
- setup and label layers
- make sure that the harbor layer is on the top of the stack
- Background Eraser Tool - erase the harbor.jpg drab background
- "Sampling Continuous" setting
- "Sampling Once" setting
- "Sampling Background swatch" setting
- color balance the layers using Image>Adjustments>levels
- make creative experiments (green slime in water, etc)
- Quick Mask Mode
- Quick mask mode is a selection tool using brushes for the selection instead of "marching ants" type tools
- the black and white color chips
- Red color represents the mask
- double click on the quick mask icon to get to quick mask options.
- Black is Mask (protected)
- White is erase (non-protected)
- Layer Masks -
- a special non-destructive mask associated with a layer.
- to make a layer mask there are two ways.....
- Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal selection (or Hide selection)
- click on the create layer mask icon in the layers palette
- notice the new "layer Mask Icon" next to the standard layer icon.
- its now very important to know which one is selected
- practice session with layer masks (twins.jpg)
